Janice Kagermeier, Study Group Coordinator, taught our group the basics of suminagashi (Japanese marbling technique) at our regular monthly meeting in January. She had enjoyed a workshop at Penland last summer and was anxious to share what she learned. We filled our kitty litter tubs with water, then dropped on the colored inks, dipped in a variety of paper samples, carefully lifted and watched as the beautiful designs appeared. It was instant gratification! Member Peg Rhein took lots of photos of the process. Below is a link to her slide show of 44 images.
